Is the music industry dead, or are you just dead to the music industry?

Here's a new game we're going to play. It's called "read this press release and see how many times you can be annoyed in the first couple sentences." Ready?

After selling out the Gillette Stadium date of his upcoming Corona Presents Kenny Chesney's 'Goin' Coastal' Tour in an incredible 8 minutes...

Fuck it, I'm tapped out already. That's like six minor brain strokes before the first sentence is even finished.  Better forge ahead, for the sake of journalism.  See you over there -- >

...his sixth overall sellout at the venue and a record for any artist in any genre at the Foxboro, MA stadium, Kenny Chesney is adding a second Gillette Stadium date on August 28 due to fan demand. Tickets for the new Gillette Stadium date, one of eleven stadium dates on what will be one of the biggest tours of the year, go on sale Saturday, February 5. The August 28 Gillette Stadium show will close out the massive tour.

Let me translate that for those of you who might not understand all of the words.  Kenny Chesney, a country singer, sold out the 70,000 capacity football stadium in Massachusetts in eight minutes, so they added a second show. Of 70,000 people. At the football stadium. In Massachusetts. For a country singer.

By the way, Robyn, my pick for artist of the year, along with a bunch of other music critic losers, had three releases this year. They've sold about 70,000 copies combined.

So keep that in mind next time you and the gang are bullshitting about how the music industry is dead. It's not. You are just dead to the music industry.

Read on if you can stand it, indie boy.

The show will star Chesney, the four-time CMA and four-time ACM Entertainer of the Year, and Zac Brown Band, GRAMMY's "Best New Artist" in 2010 whose latest album 'You Get What You Give' debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart, with special guests Billy Currington and Uncle Kracker.

With only twelve tour dates on sale, Chesney has already sold more than 400,000 tickets, and is well on track to surpass another one million tickets sold in a single touring year. This would be Chesney's ninth year to achieve such a feat.

I was going to embed a Chesney video, but they all have commercials at the front, so take some Robyn in your face instead.

I could listen to that song every day for a year. Actually I have done that. Does that make me some sort of pervert?

As far as horrible country douches go, it could be worse.

I could definitely go for some Robyn in my face.

Oh, wait. Is she still hot? I know she was in 1999. I haven't seen her since then.

If by hot you mean cute and sexy and way more woman than you could ever handle, then yes.

Dude...you are obviously a major label PLANT! Sales are down HUNDREDS of percent & you also seem to have something against indie artists. Yeah. You're a clown...and I am a two time Grammy nominee but that's neither her nor there. The music industry is DEAD! The quality of music is LONG been dead & your journalistic skills suck. Try being a little balanced & report that there are no such thing as gold & platinum singles anymore or that the diamond selling artist is a thing of the past or maybe that digital singles sales have fallen along side their physical counterparts for the first time since they have been tracked a few years ago. Do I think it will rebound? Maybe. But only if music is protected in some unheard of DRM unshareable format that hasn't even been invented yet & more than likely wont. I hung up my music spurs & started a company that makes millions per year. Within one year of quitting! All the while my good friends who have sold millions of albums struggle & suffer taking music industry welfare from MUSICARES to pay their bills. It's a shameful, crooked, genocidal industry that pushes the most ignorant mindless bullshit to a relatively stupid public who gobbles it up. The same publis who mass consumes Maury, Jerry Springer, reality television, R Kelly, & gangster rap as worthy of our praise & adoration. Oh well. Within this post there will be no answers...but in time...if we dont start consuming a more healthy blend of sound...our souls will continue to rot just like our diglyceride & MSG coated, fast food, high fructose corn syrup soaked guts.
