I suppose if that title up there was the actual headline of this story it could have been slightly worse, but let's not fuck around the bush here, that's pretty much what the shittiest headline you'll see in quite some time is saying in the Daily Mail today. Girl, 13, crushed to death by a falling branch as she sat on park bench because her teachers were out on strike.
"A teenage girl was crushed to death by a falling tree branch as she sat on a park bench," explains the story. "The 13-year-old, named locally as Sophie Howard, was out with friends on the day her school was closed because of nationwide industrial action." And in case you missed it the first time, three paragraphs later, here it is again. "The girl went to Sawtry Community College which was shut yesterday as thousands of teachers across the country went on strike."
"One angry parent wrote on Twitter afterwards: 'she should have been safe at school, she was just sat on a bench talking with friends....it could have been my daughter.'"
"She was only in the park because the teachers were on strike and the school was closed," another said.
This is obviously tragic, and there's nothing funny about a young girl being crushed by a tree branch, but jesus christ, blaming it on a striking union? What, there was no gay pride parade going on that day too? That is some diabolical genius shit. These old-timey Brit conservatives know how to (conservative) party. Your move, Fox News.

It was tragic that the girl died because of the falling branch, but blaming the girl's death to the teacher's strike is just very shallow.
