A reminder about reminding people to BYOB

"Feel free to bring your own beverage of choice." No shit? Is this a party or a canned goods fund raiser? Any other chores you want me to run before I get there?

For real though, thanks for the reminder. Until that third Evite update it had not occurred to us that this was a possibility.

OK, you know why we don't need to be told this? Because everyone (with a job) knows that this is what you do: You bring a sixer or a shitty bottle of white with the price tag half scraped off and throw it in the kitchen next to the thirteen bags of Tostitos no one is going to eat. The fact that you are supposed to bring something to a party is as self evident as not stubbing dukes out on the rug and not puking in the potted fern.

Not so fast there party host. That doesn't get you off the hook for stocking up on booze. If you can't afford to provide for your guests, then sorry, you cannot afford to have a party.

Thought I'd missed this one first time around, and now see that I even commented on iut. Twice.

I tell you what though, in defence of these eviters there's a surprising number of cheapskates who show up to these things empty-handed.

as a host, do this: i'll have this and this. if you want something else i'm not providing, bring it.

as a guest, do this: bring something. or don't.

because as a host, also do this: pretend not to notice who brought this and that, sit and silently judge, and then talk shit with your bird after everyone has left while she's doing the dishes.

that's all true too, but doesnt sound as funny when you're being reasonable.
