AT THE DRIVE-IN vs. REFUSED WYG?

Joe out of Leisure checks in with a scientific answer to this hugely important question.

--
Today I’ve been creeping into your house and logging onto your Facebook while you’ve been on the loo and that’s how I know your wall is covered with posts about Coachella, At the Drive-In, and Refused. How else could I know this? I must be breaking in through your bedroom window and hacking into your computer. It’s the only possible explanation. You really need to change your locks, also I like your bed covers. They’re cute.

Anyway, let’s ignore your dangerously lax security and overly frequent visits to the toilet, because what I’m trying to say is that everyone is losing their shit over a music festival in California. There’s three main reasons for this: 1) Seminal post-punk legends At the Drive-In have reformed and are playing and it’ll be amazing. 2) Seminal post-punk legends Refused have reformed and are playing and it’ll be amazing. 3) It’s nice to have something to look forward to during the January blues.

But, as with most things, what actually matters is deciding who’s the best? Which of these bands are most worth getting out of bed for (and then into a taxi and onto a plane and into another taxi, then maybe a bus and then probably walking for a while, I also imagine you’ll get lost at some point too so you’ll need to factor that in as well). Here are the numbers that matter to you, the reader, who’s cupboard I’m temporarily living in, maybe:

Overall winner of this highly credible, and in no way rushed or ill thought out competition: At The Drive-In!

I think it’s kind of a shame two great bands who probably share a lot of fans have both reformed at the same time for the same festival. It would have been nice to have spread the love a little. Maybe towards this country and for something a little more affordable. (£1-£8 price bracket would be ideal). It’s a bit like if 2Pac and Elvis both announced comebacks on the same weekend. Only this is way less of a big deal, much more likely and not nearly as supernatural. If you can’t wait till April, there’s
