Leisure's Manson Family remixes

One thing I'm strongly against is murdering the shit out of people. Just kind of my own thing I guess. Also being in a fucked up cult. I am, however, fully behind the idea of hot chicks in the 6tz, and tripping balls. So too are the gang at Leisure/Boiler Room, who commissioned these Manson Family remixes below, all of which are a lot cooler than I expected. I mean, I'm not gonna chop anyone's head off over it, but it's chill anyway. Check it out below. Link here if the goddamn embed isn't working.

The Manson Family epitomises everything dark and dangerous about psychedelia, the potentially disastrous consequences of drug abuse and misled ideals. When they weren’t hacking up pregnant women or trying to incite race wars they had some pretty adorable jamming sessions. That’s assuming  you find chanting and cackling adorable. That’s perhaps a reckless assumption to make. On second thoughts we didn’t mean it, we take it back. Assumption revoked.

Point being that despite all the creepiness there’s a genuine warmth in their demo tapes. Everything is totally untouched production wise and reeks of ominous euphoria. We sent these tapes to a handful of our favourite up and coming producers, DJs and bands and asked them to have a fiddle around to see what they could come up with. Here’s the results in all their messianic, homicidal glory.

Leisure Manson Family Remixes

No Wrong, Come Along - Deptford Goth Remix. The mysterious South Londoner has an EP called Youth II coming out on Merok in October and if it’s not absolutely brilliant we’ll be hosting a hat-eating party that you can all come to and watch us chow down on our favourite beanies.

:[ - Love Distance Remix. Love Distance has been churning out chilled out tunes for over a year now and they just keep getting better. He recently moved to Brixton so it’ll be interesting to see what effect that has on his music. We’re hoping for a unexpected turn town Grime St. (We’re not, it’s great as it is, don’t go urban).

I Run the Underworld - FAMILY Remix. A spot of dark spookiness never hurt anybody, (except perhaps the murdered victims of the Manson Family). FAMILY has an LP coming out on the ever marvellous LA label Living Tapes and you can listen to the title track of that saucy little number somewhere around here.

Cell - C Powers. Aside from having one of the most charming food blogs out there, C Powers is consistently putting together totally brilliant jams, the musical kind and the sticky, fruity kind. He recently left London for his native U.S. and our sorry little isle is poorer and less tasty for it.

Rite - Remix. Initially a one man operation, a recruitment drive increased their numbers by 300%. They’ve got a ton of live shows coming up in London and beyond and if you don’t try and see them then you deserve neither eyes or ears. There’s a strictly limited edition tape that you can get your grubby mitts on here thanks to Where To Now? Plugging over!
