No, it's not the fact that Rush Limbaugh apologized for being a douchebag, although that's making me a little nervous vis a vis the most likely impending apocalypse to be honest, the single most important news story of our generation, one that encapsulates everything you need to know about this current American moment we're stumbling through comes from the LA Times this weekend: A convicted murderer in Los Angeles has been collecting $30,000 worth of unemployment checks while he sat in jail. The man, by the way, a gang member, was caught because he had been found with the crime scene details of his murder tattooed all over his chest in graphic detail. THANKS A LOT OBAMA.
Anthony Garcia had family and friends cashing his $1,600-per-month government assistance checks while he served time, said Capt. Mike Parker, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. His accomplices would then deposit a portion of the money into Garcia’s jail account. They also shared the cash with Garcia’s fellow incarcerated gang members.
Someone put the details of this shit show into a time capsule so futuristic alien scientists can pinpoint the exact moment we switched the lights off. Shut 'er down. We had a good run.
Speaking of Obama, I was having a reaction to this story that was uncharacteristic of me, thinking sort of like a conservative I guess you'd say, inefficient government waste, lax illegal immigration standards, a coddling crime system that allows this sort of thing to go on... It was kind of uncomfortable to be honest. But then I read a few of the comments on the story like these below, and they snapped me right back to my standard political view. Anything to not be affiliated with people like this:
