GRIMES getting grimy |
AB;DR but here's some new music you will want to know about for a week or two and then never ever again. That's how it works now. New shit from Grimes, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Simian Mobile Disco, Nite Jewel and more after the thing.
Just like everything else Brian Jonestown Massacre has ever done, I want to like this song "I Wanna Hold Your Other Hand" more than I think I actually do. Also it sounded better when an older British band did it. In this case that band would be Blur. Still though, new album "Aufheben" out May 1. Tour should hopefully be good for a disastrous live date or two we can talk about on the internet, which is what the true meaning of music really is.
Speaking of British bands, here's the new one from Simian Mobile Disco (via Stereogum). Miss you old Simian days. .
I've been trying to figure out for a few months now whether or not I like Canadian internetty eletro-quirk fashion victim Grimes, and just haven't been able to decide. What if we, like, had her dance real cute-like with a hot dog at a dirt bike jumping event, the universe asked. Would that do the trick? It would.
NEW BANGER, "UGLY" FROM BASSNECTAR YOU GUYS STAGEDIVES INTO A BOTTOMLESS PIT FALLS FOR LIKE TWO HOURS BEFORE DYING OF FEAR. Download that shit here via Spin.
Reviewed the new Nite Jewel in the Globe today. Really feel like I missed my chance to make an obvious joke about, like, Jewel switching from her sensible business casual office clothes to head straight to the club, because to be honest, that's pretty much what it sounds like. MISS YOU JEWEL <3 :(
Here's a new video from something called Skinny Lister, a band for people who thought Belle and Sebastian were a little too butch.

Have you done a post explaining your tattoos and nose ring yet, or should I just ask you straight out:
What's up?
Is that you Jules?
Yeah, I did one here. It has everything you need to know about asking what my tattoos and nose ring mean:

RE: disastrous BJM tour dates... I had the (dis?)pleasure of seeing not one but TWO such dates back in the 2000s. During the first date, most of the band was drunk and I think they had a session drummer sitting in, because he didn't know all of the songs up to par with Anton's expectation. Anton ended up telling him, through the mic so the whole audience could hear, and I quote: "Play it right this time, you fucking cunt." Poor bastard.
Date #2 and I'm starting to see a trend... New rookie drummer on the throne and the whole band was once again trashed. Anton was drinking straight vodka from a 60-oz bottle. This time the band abandoned the drummer when he started playing his solo and did not return for A FULL 30 MINUTES. The drummer was up there the whole time by himself, playing the same phrase over and over again, hoping to god his band would, at some point, return. Which they eventually did.
Still love em though! And I'll see them when they come back to Toronto.
