A reality sitcom about Allston hipsters

Hipsters, right? With their different types of pants and/or music. Comedian Rob Potylo knows whatumsayin. His series Quiet Desperation is in its second season now, and the latest episode features all sorts of familiar faces from the seedy, shitty underbelly of Allston's music scene. This is pretty much what it's like to fuck around in Allston. Few more black dudes than I remember from back in my day though. Also kind of makes me miss old timey Tony from the practice space. That dude was the Mr Furley of the Allston rock world. Check out the rest of the series here

I asked Potylo to explain what it is. He spake thusly:

"Quiet Desperation is a documentary set to the key of funny. I wouldn't say mockumentary because I put a lot of heart and my own story into it and show folks and bands I care a shit-ton about. There's thirty episodes online. Each of them is a pilot in it's own because I run so fast in and out of scenes. A Curb Your Enthusiasm mixed with Fear And Loathing."

"In it's heart Quiet Desperation has worked with over 250 creative types in the greater Boston scene the past three years behind and in front of the camera to give a grass roots Saturday Night Live style showcase of some of the craziest minds up here in Greater Beantown."

I thought in order for something to be a comedy, it had to be funny? No?

Maybe you had to be there in the shit?

I've been to the Sil...Vietnam Vets and chubby rockabilly chicks...not funny.

Ha, well your assessment of the Sil is accurate indeed. I'm going to have to take this under advisement.
