I'm not a publicist, but I do read fluent bullshit, so let me translate this press release from TurboTax for you guys.
With Valentine’s Day around the corner, flowers and chocolate are a welcome distraction for many couples from the W-2s and deductions of tax time. But the two actually go hand in hand. No matter what your Facebook relationship status is, there are tax implications. In 2010, 33.5% of Facebook users changed their relationship status to “Single.” Another 7.5% changed their status to “It’s complicated.” 39.5% changed their status to “In a relationship,” and a large portion either got engaged or got married – 12.5% and 7%, respectively.
A new status often means new tax implications, and Vera Gibbons, financial journalist, has contributed a post to the TurboTax blog titled “,” with tips for common relationship situations, including:
- Single
- Married
- Engaged
- In a Relationship
- It’s Complicated
Ahem... (check one, two.)
Taxes are important, right? But these retards we have out there now on the internet can't understand basic adult responsibilities without stapling a Facebook reference to their dull faces, so fuck it, let's throw this shit up against the internet wall and see if we can troll for a few slow-swimming fish.
I might have got some of the tenses wrong, but it's been a while since I've practiced. So, now you know that this thing exists. How does that feel?
The article goes on to do, well, just what it says, detailing how each different Facebook status applies to your tax concerns. detailing how each different Facebook status applies to your tax concerns. detailing how each different Facebook status applies to your tax concerns. detailing how each different Facebook status applies to your tax concerns.
Sorry, got caught in a stupid-loop there for a second. It does end with this bit though, which basically says something I think you and me and tax-blogging ladies can all agree with: if you change your status to "it's complicated" you are a moron.
Did you change your status to It’s Complicated?
I’ll be honest… I’m not entirely sure what “It’s Complicated” means! If you changed your status to this option in 2010, chances are your taxes are the least of your worries.
Good point, tax people. You guys get me.
