I've spent a reasonable amount of time in LA, but not enough that I got any of it on me, if you know what I mean. So I don't think I'll ever really understand it. My old band recorded an awful record out there back in the day, and I did some pretty iconic LA shit, like talk about how great the Mexican food is all fucking day and really bum Elliott Smith out when I bumped into him at a bar that one time (is that why he killed himself? We'll never know.) But other than that, everything I know about LA comes from watching Boyz in the Hood and jerking off to Cobrasnake shoots.

When I first clicked on the site my eyeballs puked a little bit in their eyeball mouths at the design of the page, and my brain was trying to get me to bail, but I forged ahead, and, well, long story short, it's like two hours later and I just wasted my entire morning reading about nature's most under-documented and hard to find species: LA scenesters.
