Hey get me, I read stuff. Kind of a smart guy over here, I've always been quick to point out. But I also read comic books, so you know I'm grounded and don't take myself too seriously. I also don't ever dust my book shelves, which is fucking gross as I just learned. Not my problem though, is it?
One of my favorite titles for a long time was The Walking Dead, which everyone has heard of because of duh and TV and zombies and stuff. Something started nagging at me after a while though, and I stopped buying the trades, only partly because those things are like $20, which essentially amounts to $4 per minute of entertainment for the time it takes to read them. Oh, and also they became formulaic as fuck all, as this perceptive from Gutters (via io9) points out. Check it out below.

Honestly man, the fuck, I try to read these comic books and they cost like 15-20 bucks a pop and I'm done with them in a day...nerds are gettin' ripped man..
also that graphic nails the walking dead story arc
Right. I stopped buying them altogether after going on a 2 or 3 year binge of spending a thousand or so a year on TPBs. It's just not worth the price, especially when the writing gets so repetitive and flimsy as it did in TWD.
Bailed on that series myself after the prison thing. Or after the Governor bit. No idea why the television series got so much critical praise either. It made the comic look good in comparison.
The next trade is on me. I'll get it cheap.
For the both of us.
You know, I would read it if it fell in my lap, but I wouldn't go out of my way if it was across the room or anything.
Where we at? 11?
Also, Mark Invincible misses you. He will drop in your lap soon.
Around 11 I think. Last I remember they had just come into some new town, as in that gag comic above, and there was a seemingly polite Senator WHOSE OUTWARD DEMANOR CONCEALED SOME POSSIBLY SINISTER INTENT.
I like Invincible because it seems aware of its goofiness. Like a penis with sentience.
All right kiddies, go check out Ranxerox. It probably came out before you were born.
