Republican health care |
I'm guessing these Nebraskan Republican pro-lifers are big fans of the tortue-porn genre, because this is on some Eli Roth shit right here. Nebraska State Paper has the story of a mother forced to wait ten days to deliver a baby that both she and her doctors knew would die as soon as it was born.
The one-pound, ten-ounce girl, Elizabeth, was born December 8th. Danielle Deaver and husband Robb watched, held and comforted the baby as it gasped for air, hoping she was not suffering. She died 15 minutes later.
Go read the rest of the story there, if you have the stomach for it, sicko.
"The sponsor of the controversial Nebraska statute, Sen. Mike Flood of Norfolk, told the Des Moines Register that the law worked as it was intended in the Deavers’ case," because it totally fucked this fornicator up for life and appeased a disinterested god, he probably said after they turned the tape recorder off. That happens sometimes.
"Even in these situations where the baby has a terminal condition or there's not much chance of surviving outside of the womb, my point has been and remains that is still a life," Flood said in an interview with the Iowa newspaper."
As Crooks and Liars points out "Conservatives don't like the government intruding on their lives except when it intrudes on someone who doesn't share their religious beliefs. Ghouls."
This is all very surprising to us here at PTSOTL for a lot of reasons, only partly because it seems like Nebrasksa is an actual place that exists. Who knew?

horf. but seriously, nebraska is a decent patch of dirt. and the name of a bruce springsteen album that people will talk to you in the face about. and everyone loves torture porn.
Don't have the stomach for it myself.
Nebraska, I mean. And talking to people about things.
The movie's about people who commit suicide by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. The filmmakers shot the bridge every single day of 2004 and caught about 20 suicides on camera. Also has interviews with family members, friends, etc. Great flick.
Luke doesn't like dead babies. I'm pulling the racist card here.
You know I love a good racism card.
Poor law resulting in a bad situation? Definitely. But try Googling for babies who survive abortions and are left to die and you'll discover that "torture care" happens in first world countries a lot more because of abortions than because of the lack of abortions.
