Remember that inmate in Florida from a couple weeks who got caught trying to smuggle 30 different items up his ass into prison? That was my childhood friend. I wrote about what it feels like when the internet idiot of the week is someone you were friends with. (Spoiler: not good). Go read it at Slate.
Remembrance of Things Assed
How my childhood friend became an Internet laughingstock
What's the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you? Did it show up online yet? Consider yourself lucky if it hasn't, because aside from kitten memes and porn, schadenfreude is the dirty coal that keeps the engine of the Internet firing away. With the constant barrage of the morbid, ridiculous and scandalous popping up in our news feeds, we've come to expect a daily dose of catharsis from all walks of life. Look at this idiot trying to rob a convenience store with a tree branch! Top 10 faces of meth addicts! Watch this at the mall! Look at this guy who got caught trying to smuggle 30 different items into a Florida prison by stashing them in his rectum. LOL ad infinitum.

Rape jokes aren't funny but the rest of them actually are :/
The rest of what now?
I still don't have a reasonable explanation for why someone would want to bring a receipt and a coupon with them into prison.
If that cigarette was still smokeable upon removal, your scout leader did a good job.
^ of teaching resourcefulness, just to clarify, not of like making space or what have you.
Actually I think he used to clash with the scout leader...as did I. HE WOULDN'T LET ME ROCK MY COLOR ME BADD GOLD HOOP EARRING.
Luke - I found your article over at Slate. I have been reading Slate for years and was shocked to see a familiar face in the photo as well and then to see a familiar name in the byline. I thought your article was very well-written and honest (which is what led me to Slate in the first place about six years ago). Now that I have found your blog, I'll be adding you to my RSS feed and reading your work. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work.
Former Laker myself, 2 years behind you,

Oh, hey there! Thanks for saying so. Hope you like the blog, and nice to hear from you. Go Lakers! (Sort of)
