The Co-opting of the Word "Douche" by the General Public

In the past few months, I've noticed more and more frequently that everyday folks are using the word "douche" as part of their regular vernacular. I thought it was reserved for 9 year olds and douches that I know (who are not 9). I saw it on a painting from a well known artist at the contemporary art museum Mass Moca yesterday. I heard it on Top Chef, and Zack Wells and 4 other of my friends became a fan of it on Facebook. Is this a good thing? I'm not sure. The wolf knows though.
